Friends, 
After great deliberation and consideration, we finally came up with a new mission statement!

We cultivate liberating love by:
Living with mindful intention;
Acting with kindness;
Serving needs greater than our own.
Thanks to all who participated in lending your thoughts, voice and heart to the process.   I often say that our work together is to heal spiritual disconnection, within, among and beyond.  I love how this iteration of our mission focuses on the very value at the center of our faith of liberating love.  It also asks us to pay attention to our inner spiritual life, requires us to be kind toward others and reminds us that we are made most fully human, when we can get out of our selfish-me-ism and be of service to something larger than ourselves.  
So yeah, it’s pretty simple:  Be Mindful, Be Kind, Be of Service.  Simple, but to do it well, takes attention, a fierce love and an understanding that the mission has to live in you and through you. 
In truth, the church isn’t the minister or the building or the board of trustees or the staff or the by-laws, but the church is anytime you are living out the mission in the greater world.  You are the church when the mission is activated through you!!  
This may sound off, but I think it’s a pretty cool idea.  It gives hands and legs and heart to your life’s understanding of yourself and your engagement with the world.
