Calla Duo In Concert
Saturday, July 11 at 1:00 PM, First Congregational Church of Chatham
650 Main St, Chatham, MA 02633

The Calla Duo (Maya Lynn, violin; Abby Hanna, cello) is a Boston based ensemble dedicated to bringing accessible classical music concerts to the community. Performing both formal recitals and outreach performances, the goal is always to challenge new audiences to explore the world of classical music.
The program for these performances was conceptualized with the goal of presenting both canonical and non canonical works. The performance will begin with an arrangement of Bartók’s Rumanian Folk Dances for violin and cello followed by solo performances from both Abby and Maya. The first half of the program will conclude with the iconic Passacaglia for Violin and Cello by Handel Halvorsen. After intermission the duo will return with an arrangement of the“Nocturne” from Borodin’s String Quartet no. 2, Glière’s 8 pieces for Violin and Cello, and will close the performance with a crowd favorite; Piazzola’s “Libertango”.
The program features a diverse selection of music, and is designed to be enjoyable for audiences of all backgrounds, whether they are lifelong classical music listeners or simply looking for a meaningful community event.
The concert is free and open to the public. While there is no admission charge, suggested donations are greatly appreciated and help support our future musical projects and community performances.

Plymouth Justice Pilgrimage: Sunday, July 19th- Friday, July, 24th
Provincetown to Plymouth
Note: The flyer and “Pilgrim’s Guide” has been updated on this site on July 6. To access the updated flyer, click here.
Mission Statement: To walk from Pilgrim’s First Landing Park in Provincetown, MA to the Plymouth Correctional Facility in Plymouth, MA. We will be walking the entire length of Cape Cod and part of the South Shore (70 miles in 5 days) to increase awareness about the treatment of undocumented immigrants at the Plymouth Correctional Facility, while also raising money to make sure these immigrants are provided basic human rights while incarcerated. This walk is also a pilgrimage for my friend as I, as we are both practicing Christians (Chris is Catholic and Connor is non-denominational) who believe there is a lot of power to stop injustice by using both prayer and action. However, this walk is for people of all faiths, creeds, political affiliations and identities who care about the protection of basic human rights.
Background: Back in the Spring of 2019, my friend Connor and I decided to walk from Boston to The Shrine of Divine Mercy in Stockbridge, MA. What was originally supposed to be a hundred and forty mile long pilgrimage to a shrine, turned into a broader goal of bringing awareness to issues at the United States/Mexico border. Our walk coincided with the controversies arising from the U.S. government immigration policy of separating children from their parents at ICE detention centers. We completed the walk in nine days and both Connor and I agree that it is still one of our most meaningful experiences. The walk in 2019 and the continued mistreatment and abuse of undocumented immigrants has inspired us to walk again. The Plymouth Correctional Facility has a contract with ICE, which means that undocumented immigrants with no criminal record are being housed in the same facilities as convicted criminals. The amount of reported human rights violations has increased dramatically at the facility since 2020, specifically in regards to the treatment of undocumented immigrants.

Pathway for Immigrant Workers exists to address a critical need in the U.S. economy: there are simply not enough U.S. workers willing and available to fill essential roles in sectors like healthcare, hospitality, construction, and agriculture. Immigrant workers play a vital role in sustaining these industries.
