First Parish Brewster, a vibrant Unitarian Universalist congregation with more than 300 members and a 325-year history, is seeking a Church Administrator to serve as the steady center of our day-to-day life. This is a for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, clarity to communication, and care to a community that matters deeply to its people.

Church Administrator (Part-Time, 20 hours/week)

The Church Administrator is the primary point of coordination for the operations of the church.
You’ll be the person who helps everything run—not by doing everything, but by ensuring that everything has its place, its process, and its follow-through. From managing communications and supporting staff, to overseeing property needs and keeping systems organized, you’ll help translate the life of the congregation into something sustainable, functional, and welcoming.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a central point of contact for congregants, staff, and visitors
  • Coordinate day-to-day office operations and administrative systems
  • Support internal and external communications, including email, newsletters, and social media
  • Maintain personnel records and assist with HR-related processes and compliance
  • Oversee facility needs, including scheduling, vendors, maintenance, and property coordination
  • Supervise administrative or support staff as assigned
  • Partner with ministers, staff, and lay leaders to support the life of the congregation

We’re looking for someone who is both organized and people-oriented—someone who can hold details without losing sight of the bigger picture.

Ideal candidates will bring:

  • Experience in office administration, operations, or similar roles (church experience is a plus, but not required)
  • Familiarity with HR processes, recordkeeping, and compliance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with digital tools, including email platforms, databases, and social media
  • Experience with property or facilities coordination (or the ability to learn quickly)
  • Supervisory or team coordination experience
  • A collaborative, calm, and adaptable approach

Compensation & Schedule:

  • Part-time: 20 hours per week
