Meet Our Ministers
Rev. Julia Jones & Rev. Scot Hull

T-W-TH, 10am – 2pm Appointments Encouraged
Who are Revs. Julia Jones and Scot Hull?
Rev. Julia and Rev. Scot are ordained Unitarian Universalist ministers, each with experience and gifts for ministry. Originally from the DC area, they are married and have two adult children. Rev. Scot brings strengths in administration and innovation, while Rev. Julia brings deep pastoral presence and spiritual guidance. You can read more about them on our staff page!
What does their division of responsibilities look like?
Rev. Scot will take the lead in administration, board and committee work, and denominational engagement. Rev. Julia will take the lead on pastoral care and faith formation. Together, they will share worship leadership, social justice, and staff supervision – and an office!
Why did FPB choose a co-ministry model?
Both were strong individual candidates, but together they offered us the chance for a holistic and dynamic team. Their vision for shared leadership, and their distinct yet complementary gifts, we felt were well-aligned with FPB’s current needs, mission, and future.
Why are we signing a one-year contract instead of calling them now?
Shortly before our final selection, Rev. Julia was diagnosed with cancer. In order to accommodate the timing of Rev. Julia’s treatment plan, we came up with a unique alternative approach. Instead of the usual “Candidating Week”, which is traditionally an intense week-long visit followed by a congregational vote, the FPB Search Committee—with support from the Board, the UUA, and our interim minister—opted to instead start with a short-term contract to take the pressure off. Our flexibility also gave our candidate ministers a lot more time to get to know us – and gave us a lot more time to get to know them!
Will Julia need medical leave?
Nope! Rev. Julia is almost done with her treatment plan, and with the amazing care Cape Cod doctors were able to provide, it has been an unqualified success. As a result, Rev. Julia has been gradually increasing her hours over the last few months. Today, they are both fully present and fully engaged with First Parish.
Will there be a congregational vote? And if so, when?
Yes! We expect to hold a vote this December. Stay tuned!
