When I was younger, my family often visited Cape Cod for summer vacations. Our family’s cottage was near a lighthouse, and I became captivated by the lighthouse keepers’ duty, purpose, and obligations that tended to them until their automation. Growing up, I wanted to be a lighthouse keeper but was disappointed when I learned that there were very few. Instead, I became a minister. How is a faith community like a bunker, an oasis, or like a beacon?
