Don’t Die With Your Music Still in You

In America’s highly consumer-oriented culture, which often values materialism, acquisition, economic and professional competition, and ostentatious markers of success above all else, how do we go about finding authentic, lasting happiness for ourselves?
In his January 11 th sermon, Rick will reflect on American notions of achievement, happiness, success, and significance and ask each of us to discern what truly makes us happy, self-actualized, and “spiritually grounded” as individuals.
He’ll draw on his years of professional experience as an executive and life coach; on the works of Victor Frankl, Wayne Dyer, and Brene Brown; and, on research from the Modern Elder Academy. He’ll also introduce us to the Japanese concept of “Ikigai,” which is associated with vitality, purpose, joy, and life fulfillment.
