Social Justice Ministries
Social justice is an essential part of the mission of this congregation supported by our affirmation that “service is our prayer” and our mission’s directive to serve needs greater than our own. We have five social justice task forces at First Parish engaged in education, advocacy and activism to drive positive changes in areas of great concern and which we are passionate about:
Task Forces:
- Building A Bigger Table (Immigrant Justice)
- Environmental (Consumption/Waste, Climate Crisis, and Biodiversity)
- Racial and Indigenous Justice Allies
- Reproductive Rights
- Welcoming Congregation
Explore the mission and activities of each of these task forces by following the link on the left. If you are interested in engaging more deeply in any of these task forces, please contact a member of its leadership committee.
Split Plate Offerings
Each Sunday, one half of the offertory is given to local, statewide and national nonprofit organizations researched and chosen by each of the task forces as furthering their missions and that of First Parish Brewster. This enables us to align our giving with other organizations that are working “on the ground”, broadening the impact that we can make through the task forces.
